Good news from the Morrow Duo in Sunny/Rainy/Hot/Cool Guatemala!!!
Dear Pastor and Church Family:
We are both thankful today that we are able to greet you from our home in Dolores, Petén, Guatemala. Our health has remained good since our return and
we are enjoying the blessings of the Lord thru the trials and tribulations that pass our way each day.
Since our July letter, the Lord has blessed our group with the salvation of “Rosa”. Rosa had been coming for several weeks. Her two small children had been
a ‘handful’ for her but she came anyway and listened well. One time I remember looking at her while I was preaching. She was setting on the edge of her
seat listening intently to what was preached. A couple weeks ago she arrived early to church and told Barbara that she wanted to get saved. How easy it is to
lead someone when we wait on the Lord to do the work in a heart. If I may say this, I don’t think I ever had to wrestle a tomato off a vine or use special tactics
to harvest some grapes. It was so with Rosa. The harvest/fruit was ready when she arrived at church. God is never in a hurry nor is he worried that someone
will be too late in their seeking. The “knower” of all things is the “decider” of all things (being born again - John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of
the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.) What a wonderful God we have that would reach in among so much phony ‘religion’ that prevails
here and bring a dear soul to Himself thru the preaching of His word and the testimony of a new work of faith. Glory to His name, He is good to his unworthy
servants. Some might ask: “why are we so excited about the salvation of just one soul?” Because it is God that is working! It is God who is giving honor to His
word and work!
Our building is coming along nicely. All the floors are poured inside and out. The main entrance is complete except for painting the fence posts and
installing the main gate (which will be installed on Monday the 5th of October). Hopefully we can have the electric turned on in October also. A good friend
has given the money to buy 3 ceiling fans to help move air when the breezes stop. We hope to purchase them next week. Hopefully the commodes and
hand sinks will go in place in October also. Even though we are using the building now, we want to have a “dedication” service in December. We have
received several prices on the doors. We need 5 doors made of wood. All wood doors are handmade with beautiful hardwood. I believe the best price and
the best handiwork will cost us about $1800.00 for all the doors. Please help us pray for this money. I still do not have a price on the windows. The metal
bars for the windows will cost around $1000.00, but the window price I am still waiting to receive.
Jose Antonio, our song leader, will be graduating from Business College in October. He told me last night that there is no work here in Dolores after
graduation. He is making plans to move to San Benito to look for work. Please pray for Jose. There is a church in San Benito but I fear that he will have
trouble with peer pressure in the city. City life for a ‘country boy’ can be challenging.
Couples ‘living’ together continue to be a problem. The pride of life and cultural pride is a strong thing. Please pray for the young couples that find
themselves in the valley of decision about marriage. Mixed relationships like being unequally yoked or lost couples that attend services are bound by those
two things. Like the woman at the well in John 4, as the Lord would not give her the water of life until she “brought” her husband, so I find it impossible to
lead someone to the Lord until they repent of their sinful relationships that go contrary to the Word of God. I firmly believe that sin must be dealt with
BEFORE salvation. Repentance takes place before salvation and sanctification takes place AFTER salvation. I know that I am preaching to the choir but
these are problems that we face daily here in the devil’s backyard.
Please remember our work as you pray. And if any should have a couple extra dollars laying around, we can put them to good use. If you want to lay up
treasure in heaven, give it to someone that is going!!!!

December 2009 Prayer Letter
Greetings and Salutations from the Highlands of Guatemala – THE MORROW DUO
We trust that the Lord has seen each of you thru another Thanksgiving season and that you are in anticipation of another Christmas season. We too are
looking forward to celebrating not only the birth of our Saviour but also the dedication of our new church building. We are putting the finishing touches
around the grounds and hope to have the painting finished by the 9th. Thanks to the great generosity of so many of you, this huge project is about finished.
We will have a 4 day meeting beginning on the 9th of December and concluding on Sunday the 12th. Yery Martinez will be speaking on the 9th and 10th.
Pastor Norberto Chan (pastor of a good work north of us) will speak on the night of the 11th. Our mission director, Richard Ciarrocca will be with us and will
speak on the night of the 12th. Please pray for this special time for us and our people as we realize the completion of the handiwork of the Lord in our mist.
The rain has let up and the road into the mountains is a little dryer. We hope next week to begin again passing out the Gospel of John and some tracts in both
Spanish and Kekchi. An older missionary lady living over in Coban, Alta Vera Paz was kind enough to translate Bro. Ciarrocca’s tract “Saved by Grace” to the
Kekchi Mayan language. This is the FIRST time the Gospel will be given out to the people of this language here in the mountains in their native tongue.
They have received the gospel in Spanish but there still remain many who only speak Kekchi especially in the village of Los Olivos, the last village on the
road some 20 miles into the mountains. Please pray for this extra effort we will be doing. We trust that this will not be a “one time” thing, but will be the
beginning of a great open door. There are some 7 or 8 hundred people there in Los Olivos. Actually the complete village name is “the Mount of Olives”.
We have been blessed lately with a “full house” in the work in Dolores. We have some 40 plastic chairs and they have been full each Sunday and Wednesday
night. We will be renting some 60 more for our dedication with the hope of buying additional chairs as the need arises.
We are in the mist of summer vacation for the kids in our barrio. Barbara has continued to work with the two groups of young girls and also the ladies group.
Our Saturday morning youth group has dwindled a little and needs work. We are planning a special youth day in conjunction with our dedication on the
10th. We hope to fill the morning and afternoon with youth activities and culminate it with our first church “supper” and then Bro. Yery preaching to a full
house. We are anticipating at least 100 people. Please Pray for this effort also.
Our heath continues to be good. We have an occasional “bug” and the usual aches and pains, but overall we are enjoying reasonable good health.
Thank you all again for your prayer and financial support. After a brief respite for major expenditures, we hope to begin to work on the “Mission House” that we
live in. The church is “the church” and Barbara and I are the “mission”. Mission Bautista is our ministry. Barbara and I are not a church in waiting. We are
a mission that plants churches. Iglesia Bautista Gracia Y Verdad (Grace and Truth Baptist Church) is the first independent fundamental Bible believing
Baptist church in this area and the second in the whole of the state of Petén, Guatemala. The church will continue with a native pastor when the Lord gives
one. We will then continue with another work. Thus we are the Mission – Mission Bautista – planting churches in El Petén, Guatemala. There must be at least
1000 villages in the whole of Petén, and just two Baptist missionaries to cover an area the size West Virginia. There is work to be done. Why do you wait?
Pray and surrender. The Lord will do the rest. Who will come and help us?
Well, allow me to close then with this prayer request. If the Lord said in Revelation chapter 1 verse 3 that “the time is at hand” and He said it 2000 years ago,
is it not “at the door” right now? Pray for us that we might finish our race faithfully and good.
We are your servants for Jesus’ sake.

February 2010 Greetings from the Cool confines of Dolores, Petén, Guatemala
Prayer and News letter from the MORROW duo
Can it be possible that we are already into the middle of February? The weather has been a little cool in Dolores this month with the temps reaching the low
50’s at night. We know this does not compare to the lows you are having in the states but it is cool for us none the less.
The spiritual growth of Grace and Truth Baptist Church continues here in Dolores. Our numbers continue to be about the same. Usually we have between 20
and 30 faithful. My pastor once told me that the Lord has to whip us to get us where he wants us and then has to whip us to keep us there. As Solomon once
said, for the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life. We find this truth more so in young Christians but it is
also truth for us oldies also. The first few years of a young Christian is spent learning “to” obey. The rest of our lives are spent learning how to obey. Thus it is
here in Central America. With “religion” abounding in our town, it is even harder for some to take hold of the Bible doctrine of obedience. We are a young
church here and “learning” to obey is our process at the moment. We do have a couple people that caught on quick, but several are taking the long road to
learning how to obey. Patience and ministry are probably Siamese twins. If we try to separate them, both will die. Ministry without patience and patience
without ministering are dead. Please pray for us that the Lord would give us victory in this area.
Within the next two months we will have our church officially registered with the government of Guatemala. We don’t quite have the total religious freedom
that is enjoyed in the states. The cost is also high to register. We are looking at a $600.00 registration tax to receive government approval. We must have
this to open a bank account and title the land and building in the church name. Believe me when I say we will move slowly on the last part of that. Thieves
and liars abound in and out of the church in our little town of 5000 people!!
Every couple months I try to hold short special meetings just so our people can hear someone else preach. We have a 3 day meeting scheduled on the 24th,
25th, and 26th. We have asked two pastors to come and preach each night. We are hoping that this will be a good shot in the arm of our people to get busy
for the Lord. I hope it will be a time of encouragement for me also.
March will be a very busy month. We have planned several visitors. March will be a special month of emphasis on literature distribution. We have almost
covered the villages in the mountains to the east. We hope to finish that completely in March and then visit some of the small hamlets along the main road
to the north. Please pray for this effort. Since there are few cars here, we don’t expect this effort to bring many people to our church, but we do hope to stir
up some interest in knowing the Lord in the hearts of at least a few folks. Within a 25 mile radius of Dolores, there must be scores of small villages and hamlets
that do not have “the gospel of grace” preached in their churches. It is always grace plus something or works plus perseverance. Very few have heard of the
gospel of grace that was preached by the Apostle Paul. Again, please pray for these efforts.
Barbara and I are continually in need of your prayers for our ministering and our health. I just went thru 4 days of the effects of eating some bad food.
Barbara is having some sort of upper respiratory thing. With the sugar problem, every little health problem seems to get magnified. She had to have a couple
of her meds changed in December. She was rather sick for over a week in the middle of December. Thank the Lord that Bro. Richard Ciarrocca was here to
help with the expense of the extra tests and meds there were needed. The Lord is always timely in His help is he not?
As I mentioned in our last prayer letter, we have been working with Bro. Ciarrocca and Sister Frances Eachus (in Coban) trying to produce the Gospel of John
(with study helps) in the Mayan language of K’ekchi. Sister Frances has already translated the entire Bible into the language. (She has spend over 50 years
in Coban in that translation work) The Gospel of John has never been made available to that people in their native tongue. As you may already know, people
in Central America will accept the Word of God better in their native tongue. In December we took some K’ekchi tracts to a mountain village called Los
Olivos. When the K’ekchi folks realized that the tracts were in their tongue (although they do speak Spanish), they waited in the streets for us to pass by and
share the gospel in tract form in K’ekchi. Sister Frances has translated the study helps and we hope to have the completed body of work finished for
distribution by June of this year. It will require much of Bro C’s time on the computer and also his printing press. Please pray for him about the publication
and for us in the distribution phase.
I do need to close this letter out and get it to Bro C for mailing. Over the years he has been a great blessing to us in helping us by printing and mailing our
prayer letter. Neither one of us (he or I) are on our first legs so you know that our pace has slowed somewhat over the years. We have no plans to retire from
serving the Lord. While the young rabbits run ahead, we old turtles will keep plodding along until the Lord comes for us. Please continue to pray for us and as
the Lord enables you please continue to support our efforts to preach the gospel to the lost in El Petén, Guatemala.
We have updated some photos of the church building on our web page. Please log on at the address below to view the new church building.
